Sure, it sounds cliché – but your wedding stationery sets the tone for the entire day. If you’re looking to incorporate some of 2022’s wedding stationery trends into your big day, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve tracked down all the best wedding invitation designs, save-the-date cards and more sustainable stationery to help inspire your own very special wedding print.

Gold and Jewel Tones

One rising wedding colour palette of which we can’t get enough is pretty reminiscent of hidden treasure – jewel tones! Though it first emerged as a rising trend in home décor, we’ve seen a huge rise in these luxurious palettes for wedding themes too.

We love how this example pairs these ruby and emerald tones with flashes of gold in the envelope liners.

If you want to recreate this 2022 wedding stationery trend, why not add a subtle gold shimmer with our Gold Dust stock? It’s a fantastic way of adding an element of glamour to your DIY design.

Sustainable Stationery

Are you going green on your big day? Eco-friendly wedding planning has become a massive trend. From using seasonal produce for the catering to lighting the room by candlelight instead of electricity, couples opting for an environmentally friendly way of saying “I do” will also be thinking about sustainable stationery.

We offer a printing stock option that’s both recycled and recyclable, making it the ideal material for your 2022 wedding. Check out our full range of stocks here.

Rustic DIY

Another 2022 wedding stationery trend that’s seen a rise in recent years is a rustic theme. By this, we mean things like barns, fairy lights and naked cakes. Anything that says Pinterest-worthy wedding style. Like this…

For this theme, you’re going to need stationery to match. If you want to create a DIY design that doesn’t make you think ‘DI-why-did-I-choose-to-do-this’, we have great news – there is an easier way!

First, create a simple DIY design that would work well on an earthy-brown textured card. Then choose Kraft stock when you’re ordering your stationery. Trust us, no one will ever know that you didn’t sit and painstakingly craft every invite by hand.

Florals

Florals are always a fantastic choice for your wedding. Especially in spring and summer. If you’re hosting a more traditional wedding, roses, tulips, peonies and hydrangeas are all great choices.

If you want something a little quirkier, check out our free Wedding Garland design templates. We’ve used a range of illustrated flowers to help make sure you’re in with the 2022 wedding stationery trends and that you stand out from the crowd. Click on the template below to start customising.

The Right Texture

So, we’ve already gushed over Kraft and Ice Gold stocks, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to printing your own DIY designs. Making sure your wedding stationery impresses and stands out means picking a stock that’s unique to you; it’s something many couples are choosing to do.

We recently launched a range of wedding stocks – so now you have even more choice! Each stock has a slightly different look or feel. Read our product FAQs here for a quick description of each option or check out the following high-resolution images and see for yourself what sustainable stationery possibilities are out there.

Pastel and Watercolour

It’s easy to see why pastel wedding stationery is so popular – it’s pretty, it’s versatile and it’s also a well-loved option for the ceremony’s colour palette. The example below uses pastel flowers on place name cards for the tables.

We love the personal touch of handwriting each name onto a card! And if you want to be really trendy on your wedding day, we recommend going with a botanical green colour – after all, green is the colour of the year for 2022!

Calligraphy

Hand lettering and calligraphy are techniques used for drawing decorative letters. They’re great for adding a personal touch to your DIY design but it can be a bit pricey to hire a professional calligrapher.

A cheaper but no less professional alternative to printing them out to send to a calligrapher is to create your own DIY design using our free online tool and using our handwritten-style fonts (in fact, a lot of our wedding templates use this kind of font as standard). This way, you get the bespoke look you’re after at just a fraction of the price – meaning you can probably afford to spend a little more on the dress or the venue.

Here’s a free template you can start designing today that uses this exact wedding trend. Just click to customise.

Geometric Shapes

Looking for a more modern wedding invitation trend? Why not try a geometric style? This example uses an ultra-modern marble background paired with a mixed metals geometric outline to prove that you don’t need any fancy frills for a stunning sustainable wedding stationery set.

We’re particularly a fan of using the same theme before during AND after the wedding with matching thank you cards – that’s a great way of showing both appreciation to your guests and that you’ve thought about everything.
