In this spotlight we spoke with the inspiring team behind My Salah Mat, pioneers in interactive learning tools that make faith and culture accessible to everyone. Best known for creating the world’s first Interactive Prayer Mat, their mission goes far beyond innovation. It’s about helping children and families learn, connect and celebrate diversity through play and storytelling. Working closely with their account manager, Michelle, they’ve brought their beautifully illustrated books and educational materials to life with quality print that supports their growing global reach.
Tell us about your business! Who are you, what do you do, what’s your history, where did it all start?
My Salah Mat are the leading innovators in interactive learning tools on a global stage within the Islamic industry. We’re best known for creating the world’s first Interactive Prayer Mat, designed to help children and adults learn how to perform the Muslim prayer in a fun and interactive way.
Alongside this flagship product, we also publish children’s books that introduce Islamic history and culture to readers of all backgrounds. Each title helps families everywhere understand, appreciate and celebrate diversity through storytelling.
For example, Hajj with Emperor Mansa Musa tells the story of one of the world’s most famous historical figures, not only from an Islamic perspective but also as a celebration of African and Black history, exploration and generosity. Ramadan in Space was inspired by the incredible journey of Sultan bin Salman Al Saud, the first Muslim in space, blending science and spirituality in a way that sparks curiosity in all children.
We’ve supported Newport City’s Education Department by donating over 200 books to more than 40 primary schools. With the help of instantprint, our books have now reached readers across the UK, USA, Australia and the Middle East.
What’s your main challenge and how do you overcome it? What problem do you solve for customers?
Our biggest challenge is showing that learning about religion and culture can be fun, universal and enriching for everyone. We overcome this by designing interactive products and publishing beautifully illustrated books that tell stories of humanity, faith and curiosity. Our goal is to help children explore big ideas in a way that feels relatable and enjoyable.
What made you decide to open a managed print account with us?
We needed a trusted print partner who could deliver consistently high quality books and materials. Our children’s books are central to our mission, so having a managed print account gave us the confidence to produce them to a professional global standard, thanks to the support provided by our account manager.

What have you found most valuable about working with our account management team?
The personal support and clear communication has been fantastic. Michelle, our account manager, has always been incredibly attentive and supportive. She understands our needs and ensures our books and educational materials are always produced exactly as we envision them and arrive as and when we expect.
Thinking about your wins with print marketing, what advice would you give to businesses like yours?
You should see print as a way to tell your story and connect people. For us, print isn’t just packaging. It’s storytelling that bridges cultures. It’s books that children treasure, guides that help parents and materials that invite readers to see the world from a new perspective. The more meaning you pack into your print the more lasting your impact becomes.
How do you use print to make your customers feel special and understood?
We create books that reflect the richness of Muslim culture while remaining open and accessible to everyone. Parents often tell us their children light up when they read about Ramadan or heroes like Mansa Musa. For non Muslim readers, our stories become a window into new worlds and traditions, helping them learn, appreciate and connect.

What kind of print products do you order from us, and how have they helped support your goals?
We mainly print our children’s storybooks which help us educate families through culture and storytelling. We also produce educational inserts that add extra value to our interactive prayer mats. Print’s been key to extending our mission beyond products. It’s how we share our story with the world.
What are your top print tips for other creators or businesses?
Think of print as part of your brand experience, not an afterthought. Keep your design clear, warm and family friendly if you’re creating for children. Never underestimate the power of a well printed book. It becomes a keepsake that families hold onto and pass down.
