In this client spotlight, we had the pleasure of speaking with Robin Payne, the founder of Gus Wear, who have the aim of empowering women in sports to move fearlessly, with high quality, comfortable, leakproof underwear. Founded in 2024, Gus Wear continues to make stylish underwear for females in fitness.
Tell us about your business!
We are Gus Wear - urine & sweat proof underwear for women that move! We have celebrated our first birthday this year and are looking forward to our second! Gus was an idea I had when I started powerlifting. Lots of the ladies in the gym talked about using tena pads or sanitary towels as a back up during heavy lifts. When I looked for more eco friendly options, there wasn't anything out there. So this is what we created.
What challenges do you face most often — and how do you overcome them?
The main challenge I think is overcoming the stigma of 'stress incontinence'. This is a genuine problem for lots of ladies and I would hate the idea that women and young girls give up on movement through embarrassment of peeing or getting sweaty. That was the key driver behind setting the business and how I’m overcoming the challenge.
How do you make your customers feel special and understood?
I understand their struggles, I lift heavy and can sympathise with their problems. As I have first hand experience with the issues our customers face, I am able to understand different points of view and how people can be impacted, so by breaking the barriers, I am able to ensure that every customer can reach their goals.
What print products do you order from us and how have they brought you success?
I ordered some roller banners and some posters for fitness trade shows. These products helped us capture attention, which was important to ensuring that we succeeded, so much so, they were re-used!
What are your top print tips for other creators and businesses?
Keep your branding clean and uniform. Your brand is your face and needs to be recognisable from afar. If you start changing details, it will become diluted and look messy, making you less memorable. Consistency is key.
Why do you choose to print with instantprint?
To meet our needs, we needed a printer that could offer fast delivery and offer good prices, which is exactly what instantprint was able to offer, especially at the quality that we needed.
Why do you use print marketing alongside digital marketing?
For the shop front at the show. We have done 2 now and reused the roller banners, they looked great and being able to reuse them was great to ensure that we reduce our waste while also providing a consistent message.
