When Christmas is just around the corner, it’s common to harbour a few expectations, especially when it comes to work. Depending on which industry you work in, Christmas is often the one time of year when you hope to wind down a little, when you can take your foot off the accelerator and reflect on what you’ve achieved over the year. You imagine your work days in the build up to Christmas break to be filled with festive desk decorating, Secret Santa gift exchanges, long lunches and tackling your ‘Christmas jobs’ list, which is compiled of nice easy tasks such as organising your drawers and clearing out unused files on the computer.

But of course, when you own or work for a small business, it doesn’t always pan out that way. So with this in mind, here are a few examples of our idyllic expectations, and the reality of what actually happens at the office in the run up to Christmas…

There’s no denying that having to work when you’ve already switched off for Christmas can be a drag. But keep going, we’re nearly there! It won’t be long until you’re filling up on delicious Christmas dinner, and after that we have a shiny new year to look forward to! On that note, Merry Christmas everybody - have a good one!
