What does ‘type IIR’ mean?
We create our medical face masks to the standard BS EN 14683:2019. There are three different types of masks in this standard: Type I, II and IIR. All of these medical face masks have a microbial cleanliness of ≤ 30cfu/g.
However, unlike type I and II, our type IIR face masks are splash resistant, and have a splash resistance pressure of ≥16.0kPa.
How do these masks work?
Type IIR Surgical face masks filter the expelled air/mucous/spit of their user to protect those around them from infection. Our face masks are 3-ply, meaning they have three protective layers designed for both safety and comfort.
What are Type IIR Surgical masks face masks made from?
The outer layer of the masks is made from a splash-resistant (AKA hydrophobic) nonwoven fabric.
The middle layer is made from meltblown – a nonwoven fabric that acts as a protective filter, boasting a >99% bacterial filtration efficiency.
The hydrophilic layer is closest to your face and is ultra-soft for sensitive skin. This material reduces moisture within the mask and is latex-free making it suitable for sensitive skin.
Our masks are complete with elasticated ear loops and an adjustable wire nose bridge that bends to fit the shape of your nose, making them a comfortable, one-size fits all solution.
Can these face masks be reused?
Our medical face masks are disposable, single-use products and are not designed to be disinfected and reused. Reusing these masks can increase the risk of infection being transmitted.
Who should wear Type IIR Surgical masks?
Our Type IIR Surgical masks are intended as an infection control measure and are suitable for any profession where workers are on the frontline and come into contact with others. They can also be used in professional medical settings as medical devices
These masks are ideal for laypersons, NHS workers, dentists, care home assistants, vets and other keyworkers who may be exposed to blood and other bodily fluids as part of their occupation.
Will my Type IIR Surgical masks arrive in white label packaging?
Due to legal requirements, our Type IIR Surgical masks cannot be delivered unbranded and as such, show Bluetree Group Obisk branding on the packaging.
