FAQs

Correx® Signs: Frequently Asked Questions

What is Correx, and how thick are the signs?

Correx® by Corplex is a lightweight, fluted corrugated polypropylene plastic used for printed signs. It's waterproof and suitable for indoor and outdoor use, making it a popular choice for event directions, construction sites, property boards and promotions.

instantprint Correx signs are approximately 3.5mm thick (this can vary slightly at different sizes). The fluted structure gives the board a slightly ridged surface rather than the smooth finish of an aluminium sign.

Are Correx signs waterproof, and how long do they last outdoors?

Yes, Correx signs are waterproof and suitable for outdoor use. They're a practical option for temporary event signage, construction notices and outdoor promotions.

Correx signs typically last around one to two years outdoors, depending on weather exposure, positioning and how securely they're installed. This is an estimated lifespan rather than a guarantee. For permanent outdoor signage, aluminium is the more durable choice.

Is Correx the right material for my signage?

Choose Correx if you need lightweight, waterproof signage for events, temporary outdoor advertising, construction sites or handheld displays. Double-sided printing and custom shapes make it useful for directional and promotional signs.

For a more permanent outdoor installation, consider aluminium. If you need a display that stands on its own, consider an A-frame or another purpose-built freestanding display, because a Correx board needs fixing or support.

What sizes are available, and can I order a custom size?

instantprint Correx signs are available in five standard sizes, A0 to A4, or you can select Custom Size and enter your own dimensions.

Standard sizes are:

  • A0: 841 × 1,189mm
  • A1: 594 × 841mm
  • A2: 420 × 594mm
  • A3: 297 × 420mm
  • A4: 210 × 297mm

Custom Correx signs can be up to 1,550 × 1,040mm. If the shortest edge of your sign is 1,000mm or more, the longest edge can't exceed 1,300mm. For example, 1,500 × 900mm and 1,300 × 1,000mm are both available, but 1,400 × 1,000mm isn't.

Enter your dimensions in millimetres. If your size isn't accepted, use our live chat so we can check the available options.

Can I have my Correx sign cut to a custom shape?

Yes, Correx signs can be cut to a custom outline rather than a standard rectangle. Select Custom Shape when choosing your options and supply artwork for the shape you want.

The artwork system traces your design to create a cut line. Check this carefully on your proof before approving it. If the outline needs adjusting, use live chat for help.

Each ordered sign is one finished item. We can't cut multiple separate signs from a single larger sheet.

Can I print on both sides of my Correx sign?

Yes, double-sided Correx printing is available, and each side can carry the same design or a different one, such as ‘Entrance’ on one face and ‘Exit’ on the other. Select Double Sided when ordering and supply artwork for both sides.

Double-sided signs work well for event routes and displays that people approach from either side. Position your sign so both printed faces remain visible, and check both sides of your artwork proof before approval.

Can I order my Correx signs with holes or eyelets?

Yes. You can order Correx signs without holes, with holes, or with holes reinforced with eyelets.

Signs with holes have four 6mm-diameter holes, one in each corner, positioned 10mm from the edges. The eyelet option reinforces these corner holes, helping reduce the risk of ties or other fixings tearing through the lightweight board. Choose the option that suits how you plan to display your sign.

How do I attach my Correx sign?

Correx signs with holes or eyelets can be secured to suitable fences or railings using cable ties. Use all four corner fixing points to distribute the load, and avoid overtightening ties, which can damage the board.

For outdoor displays, secure the sign to a stable support and consider its exposure to wind. Larger signs need adequate support to limit bending and movement.

instantprint doesn't supply ground stakes or H-frames, so if you want to display your sign in the ground, you'll need to source these separately.
