How to design your A4 spiral bound notebooks
Whether you’re going to be designing the front cover of your A4 notebooks yourself or instructing your in-house design team, creating your business’ personalised A4 notebooks is quick and simple. But, if you need some expert advice on how to get started, we’ve compiled some of our top tips for you.
Making sure you set up your blank canvas correctly when you begin is important. The finished size of an A4 notepad is 210mm x 297mm, so set your artwork up at 216mm x 303mm - this allows for a 3mm bleed on both sides. You will also need to add an extra 9mm to the binding side for the safe zone.
Before you begin creating your artwork, set your colour mode as CMYK and use high resolution images (at least 300dpi) only, as using anything less can affect the finished quality of your corporate notebooks.
Using bespoke or branded fonts? You’ll need to ensure any that you use are embedded or flattened on the design as we may not hold them in our arsenal. Still stuck? Take a look at our A4 notebook guide for even more information.
What if I don’t have an A4 notepad design?
If you don’t have an existing design don’t worry, we have a handful of templates that will help you on your way to creating a custom A4 notepad design perfect for you and your business. If you and your design team work with specialist programmes you’re in luck. We have templates available for Photoshop, InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. If not, we also have the perfect PDF template too.
What paper are my A4 spiral notebooks printed on?
The inside pages are 90gsm uncoated – this is a classic notebook paper that’s ideal for writing, doodling and scribbling on. The covers are 350gsm silk, which is a sturdy, card-like paper that helps keep your inside pages neat.
What finishes are available?
We offer two different finishes that are applied only to the covers of your notebooks. Matt is a smooth finish (and our most popular), and gloss adds a high shine look and makes colours look brighter!
