Spot UV
Everything you need to set up and submit a Spot UV file.
What Is Spot UV?
Spot UV is a glossy varnish applied to specific parts of your design. It adds a slight raised texture, which stands out best against a matt or uncoated background.
Creating Your Spot UV File
You'll need two files: your normal artwork, and a second file showing only the Spot UV areas.
Save your artwork as normal — this is Artwork.pdf.
Duplicate it, then delete everything you don't want Spot UV applied to.
Change the remaining elements to one solid colour.
Save this as _SpotUV.pdf (the file must have "_SpotUV" in the name).
Want a textured background or pattern that isn't in your main design? Just add it into the _SpotUV file.
Submitting Your Artwork
Upload both files to our website — we need both to generate your proof.
Your proof will show 3 pages (6 if double-sided):
