At instantprint, we’re always on the lookout for ways to make your printing experience easier, quicker, and better. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our brand-new AI Artwork Enhancer - a clever tool that automatically improves your uploaded artwork to give you sharper, brighter prints without any extra effort.

What Does the AI Artwork Enhancer Do?

This AI tool looks out for low-resolution elements and dull colours in your artwork and fixes them automatically.

Sharper images: If your artwork comes in under 75dpi (dots per inch), the AI will upscale those blurry parts to make them crisp and clear.
Better colours: It also adjusts muted or off-tone colours to make sure your print pops exactly as you expect.

You’ll get to preview the enhanced version alongside your original, then choose which you prefer.

How It Works:

Using the AI Artwork Enhancer couldn’t be simpler:

  1. Choose your product and add it to your basket

  2. Upload your artwork in JPEG, PNG, or flat PDF format.

  3. If your file has resolution or colour issues, our system will automatically offer the AI enhancement option.

  4. Preview the improved artwork using a handy before-and-after slider.

  5. Pick the version you want, approve it, and send it off to print.

No design software needed. No extra hassle. Just better prints.

What Files Does It Work With?

Our AI Artwork Enhancer is designed to work its magic on flat files only for now. Here’s what that means and which file types you can use right away:

  • JPEG
This is one of the most common image formats, great for photos and artwork saved as a single image. Just make sure your JPEG is high quality and not overly compressed so the AI can work with a clear picture.
  • PNG
Perfect for images with transparent backgrounds or graphics with sharp edges. PNG files keep colours crisp and clear, making them ideal for logos or illustrations. Just like JPEGs, your PNG should be flattened, meaning all layers combined into one.
  • PDF's with Flattened Layers
PDFs are a popular file type for print, but not all PDFs are the same. Our AI tool only works with PDFs where all the layers are “flattened,” or merged into a single image, no separate text or design layers. This helps the AI scan your artwork easily and apply enhancements without confusion.

We’re actively working on making our AI tool even smarter, so it can soon handle layered files too! Layered files, like those created in Photoshop (PSD) or Illustrator (AI), keep different parts of your design separate (like text, images, and backgrounds), giving you more flexibility to edit.

Adding support for these will allow the AI to work on specific layers individually, helping with more complex designs and keeping everything crisp and clear.

For now, if your file is layered, you can easily flatten it in your design software before uploading or just save a copy as a flat PDF, JPEG or PNG.

Jargon Buster

Our AI Artwork Enhancer is designed to work its magic on flat files only for now. Here’s what that means and which file types you can use right away:

  • DPI (Dots Per Inch)
This measures the resolution of your image. The higher the DPI, the sharper your print will look. Anything under 75dpi can appear blurry or pixelated when printed.
  • Flat PDF
A PDF file where all the layers are merged into one single image. This means no separate editable parts like text or images - just one complete design.
  • Upscale
The process of increasing the resolution of an image to make it clearer and sharper, especially important when printing.
  • Muted Colours
Colours that look dull or washed out rather than bright and vibrant.
