Have you ever wondered what actually goes on at instantprint to make the print magic happen? Before you even get to our website, there’s a ton of work put into the creative marketing campaigns for the company, including all the special offers you see!

From our recent social media strategy update to seasonal promotions, there’s a whole team dedicated to bringing you the best experience at instantprint. Here, we talk to Kirsty, our Design Online Graphic Designer, in our Creative Department to find out more…

 

1. When did you start working at instantprint?

I started at instantprint back in October 2015. So nearly 3 years!

 

2. What does your role involve?

I’m instantprint’s design online graphic designer, so that means I’m the one behind the creation of our free design templates which customers can edit to create their own artwork. I look at research our marketing team have carried out to plan out seasonal trends and create new designs based on these as well as customer feedback.

 

3. How does your role fit into the journey of an instantprint customer’s print?

I always want to bring exciting, fresh and creative designs to the table but more importantly designs that are going to get our customers the results they deserve. By combining market research, surveys and trends, I can create templates that are going to help small businesses with things like customer loyalty, spreading awareness of their brand and drumming up new business.

 

4. What makes you proud about working at instantprint?

What makes me most proud of working at instantprint is hearing the success stories that small businesses have had from using our design online feature. Our customers are receiving professional design and top quality print without investing in hiring a designer.

On a more personal level, I feel like I’m really valued as an employee. I’m fully supported with training and development to progress in my graphic design career and, upon reflection, my skills have come a long way.

 

5. What’s the most exciting technology or change you’ve seen in the way print is produced?

During the time I’ve worked at instantprint, I’ve seen a lot of investment in new production equipment and it’s so exciting watching an idea turn into a reality. When technology doesn’t limit design it makes my job a lot of fun!

 

6. Tell us about your downtime hobbies or a random fact about yourself

I really enjoy watching the latest releases at the cinema, there’s usually a bunch of us that will go from work. I also love to bake, my signature bakes in the office are my Pizza Cupcakes!

 

7. What’s your favourite creative project that you’ve worked on so far?

One of my favourite creative projects is one I’m actually doing right now! I’m looking at the design online platform as a whole, with customer feedback in mind, to make the interface easier to use. I really want to ensure our customers have the best experience designing their print online so keep your eyes out for the new user interface coming soon.

 

8. What do you like about being on the creative team for instantprint?

I love that no two days of my job are the same! I’m always working on something new or different so it keep my work life exciting. The team environment in the office is unlike any other place I’ve worked at. We regularly go out on team fun days and we never miss sandwich day on a Friday!

 

9. How do you develop a new design template for instantprint?

I always start by making sure I have ample amounts of research. If customers want a product they’re great at letting us know what they’d like. I really enjoy looking at what people are searching for vs what we currently are offering so I can whip up a new template to meet the demand. My goal is to create a diverse range of templates for all varieties of small businesses.
